The rubber washer is essential to ensure they point the right way when tightened. Without it, when they are tightened on to your rod pod, they may be pointing the wrong way. The rubber compression washer means that when they are tight, they can still be turned further to ensure the correct orientation.

Kashsama Well made product. Fits my rods with shrink wrap handles but my rods with cork handles are a little tight. Would have preferred the overall product to be a little larger. Fits my prolific rod pod.
